"A tall gabled tower over the balcony of this double story home in Harrisdale makes a strong visual statement. The narrow lot design – the block is just 10m wide- cleverly melds form and function and it’s a credit to designer and builder Gold Style Homes. Contemporary and stylish, the home not only belies but defies any restrictions imposed by the block size, with spacious, light filled rooms, high ceilings and a practical, easy flowing floor plan. “We finished the home off well, with crisp clean render and detailed cornices” Gold Style general manager David Goldsmith explained. “The finishes are part of the overall quality and high specification we apply to every home”. The wide entry has windows on a side wall. A powder room is next to a laundry with a long workbench, plenty of storage and side access. An open, light lounge room has sliding doors to a side terrace, which acts as another light trap. Glazed double doors access the big open-plan dining and living area, which can be extended further to an alfresco area, conveniently integrating indoor and outdoor living. “The owners of this new project home in Southern River; Lee and Rosemary Roberts, had originally seen a two-storey display home they really liked – but didn’t want a double storey property. So Gold Style Homes re-created the home as a single storey. “We loved the layout of the lower floor”, explained Mrs Roberts. “But with two young children we only wanted a single home, so Gold Style redesigned it, with a few modifications and adding e kids’ area to the rear, which suited us.” The contemporary-styled home now perfectly meets the needs of the owners and their love of family and entertaining.
